Here's Hipster Runoff's last commentary on the 2007 AA Halloween Costume contest.
These are the WORST costumes. [View all costumes here]

All of these costumes managed to make you think less about American Apparel, instead highlighting different levels of creepiness, d-bagness, and public identity crises.

8. This "Skunk" looks more like she is halfway between her ANIMORPH.

7. There were a lot of versions of Ziggy Stardust, but this one was definitely the worst, because it looks some one's last breath of life in a snuff film.

6. This trio went as "The Chas Tenenbaums." However, they didn't realize that they actually went as the cast of mediocre comedy show HUMAN GIANT.

5. Pulling off the '70s porn director' costume is more difficult than this guy thinks. This guy ended up looking more like Jeffrey Dahmer in an American Apparel hoodie.

4. 'SEXY JAILBIRD' turned out more like ORANGE ANDY DICK

3. It's a lot harder to be a D-Bag on Halloween, but OLYMPIC MUFF DIVER is a great way to transcend D-baggery

2. The girl on the right says: "I have a very confused costume. I'm Richie Tenenbaum from the Royal Tenenbaums plus Kanye West plus Mr. T with the chains shirt but over all a roller girl which I got from the site. I'm wearing a burnt orange nylon wind breaker, red, white and blue knee- high tube socks and a blue headband which are from American Apparel. I love this costume!!"

I think the appropriate title for her costume is "Kanye West's self-concept (on roller skates)."

1. "Crazy Sexy Clown" AKA Inappropriate John Wayne Gacy costume.

Don't get John Wayne Gacy humor? Here's who wikipedia says he is:

John Wayne Gacy (March 17, 1942 - May 10, 1994) also known as The Killer Clown, was an American serial killer. He was convicted and later executed for the rape and murder of 33 boys and young men between 1972 and his arrest in 1978, 29 of whom he buried in a crawl space under the floor of his house, while others were found in nearby rivers. He became notorious as the "Killer Clown" because of the many block parties he threw for his friends and neighbors, entertaining children in a clown suit and makeup, under the name of "Pogo the Clown." He was also in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest sentence imposed on a mass murderer; he was given 21 consecutive life sentences and 12 death sentences.

If you don't want to read about him, check out this Sufjan Stevens song posted below. It's probably one of the most educational songs I've heard in recent years, telling the life story of John Wayne Gacy, and one of Sufjan's most approachable besides "Chicago."
